Senior Controller

We are looking for a Senior Controller for our headquarters to plan and work with a world-class team as we embark on a journey spanning multiple years. This is very much a 'roll up your sleeves' hands-on position, requiring technical skill and business acuity to lead a focused startup team reporting to the CFO. What You Will Do:
  • Continuously oversee the proper recording of all financial transactions, cash, ensuring appropriate levels of internal control, and developing policies and procedures.
  • Develop and oversee the company's financial plans and policies, its system of internal controls, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports.
  • Oversee monthly general ledger management, e.g., review of bank reconciliation, sub-ledger reconciliation, intercompany billing, and other monthly closing procedures.
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting package, including performance summary for Management and Board of Directors.
  • Manage and own the budgeting process for ProbablyMonsters and the Family of Studios.
  • Oversee the Payroll processing for ProbablyMonsters and the Family of Studios (using Paycom).
  • Manage the accounting system, including a new ERP implementation, and integration of accounting processes and reporting.
  • Lead continuous process improvement over-reporting and financial operations by partnering with operations managers.
  • Coordinate the preparation of all financial and regulatory reports for ProbablyMonsters and the Family of Studios.
  • Lead preparation and documentation of state, local and federal tax returns. Work with auditors to ensure all entities comply with tax requirements, assure accurate and timely completion of all local, state, and federal tax filings, and take full advantage of available favorable tax provisions.
  • Support tracking and reporting of operating metrics (using Microsoft Power BI).
  • Research and develop appropriate accounting and reporting policies and procedures.
  • Design process improvements to improve efficiencies and reduce costs.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Six years of accounting experience in a high growth/startup environment.
  • A four-year bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting from a College or University.
  • Experience with implementing software workflows across multiple departments.
  • Experience using QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Paycom, Microsoft Power BI, and Nexonia Expense Reporting.
  • Experience working in a multiple company, multi-division, or multi-department environment.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook and other computer programs.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse operations team, foster positive and cooperative relationships.
