Principal Character Artist

Our mission is to create industry-leading multiplayer games for players around the world.  We are working on an unannounced and original next-generation AAA title.


Firewalk Studios is looking for a Principal Character Artist who is passionate about bringing exceptional entertainment to millions of players. As our Principal Character Artist, you will be responsible for building character art pipelines and creating world class characters.

  • Your portfolio reflects your experience, your love for creating characters, and a technical mastery of your tools.
  • You are a proven team leader who focuses on their craft but also sees the big picture when it comes to building a AAA game.
  • You pride yourself in your ability to lead discussions, drive decision making, and provide feedback across teams and with senior leadership.
  • You champion and foster collaborative and transparent workflows with every member of the team in a way that inspires a confident and respectful workplace.
  • You stay on top of the latest trends and find ways to motivate and inspire innovation across your team.
  • You seek efficiency, optimizing pipelines and workflows for your entire team.
  • You set the standard with your work ethics and art bar and love contributing to artistic techniques and processes.
  • You have the skills and experience necessary to own parts of production with little to no supervision.
  • You feel at home creating characters, shaders, textures and pipelines.
  • You encourage individual and team growth and are driven to create a long-term career path for yourself.

  • Collaborate with the Art Director, Character Art Lead and Tech Artists to discuss character goals.
  • Partner with Graphics Engineers to build out new features for the Character Team.
  • Work with other disciplines to create amazing and fun characters.
  • Join a playtest to see how characters are playing and to give notes on the entire game.
  • Look for opportunities to simplify the pipeline to make the character team more efficient.

  • You have a deep understanding of ZBrush, Maya, Substance, and Unreal Engine.
  • You have shipped multiple AAA quality games.
  • You have a strong knowledge and experience of next generation character pipelines, tools and workflows.
  • You have at least 7+ years of character art experience.
