Our studio is looking for a Character Technical Artist who is incredibly passionate about characters and bringing exceptional entertainment to millions of players.  You will be helping to build and maintain the "glue" between character art, animation, tools, and engineering for our project.

  • Work closely with Modelers, Animators and Designers when iterating on a character. Be able to give rigging feedback about what is working, what isn't, and give advice on technical solutions to solve problems.
  • Be responsible for a character's rigging and deformation all the way down the pipeline, both in Maya and Unreal.
  • Code new pipelines and rigging techniques in Maya or Unreal to raise the bar on character performances.
  • Communicate well with others as you help evangelize a new pipeline or tool. Be the "glue" that brings disciplines together.
  • You will support team members with desk side support and help everyone push the boundaries of Character Tech.

We are looking for a Services Architect to lead development efforts on both internal facing services that support game development and external player facing game services. This is an exciting and challenging position with the opportunity to do green field development and build systems from the ground up.  


Who you are:
 

  • You have at least 7 to 10 years of experience as a senior software engineer shipping, high quality, high concurrency, services.
  • You have a proven ability to design complete systems, lead the team through implementation and ultimately ship. You're passionate about supportable systems and make that a priority.
  • You're excited by the opportunity to build something from the ground up.  You deal with ambiguity well and know how to nail down requirements and details.
  • You are comfortable coding in both native (C++), managed code (C#, Java) and various scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, etc..).
  • You have experience working with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google, etc…) and understand how to architect services to run in the cloud.
  • You're a wizard when it comes to performance analysis and debugging all levels of, live, complex systems.
  • You're knowledgeable in the networking layer used for communication between services and have the ability to work at the code level in this area.
  • You're passionate about the quality of the services you develop and take responsibility to look into live site issues.
  • You take what you learn and improve those systems.

 What your day might look like:   

  • You start your day reading about some new technology that you've been considering.  While you're reading another engineer stops by with a question, you help them out and they head off to their desks with the answers they need to move past that issue.
  • You then head to the kitchen where one of your teammates is brewing a killer cup of coffee.   This week's brew is some awesome Ethiopian beans.
  • While enjoying your coffee, you knock out a couple code reviews for your teammates and then take some time to make a little progress on your design document for a new micro-service the team is working on.
  • Before lunch, you catch up with your lead, whiteboard out some of the service work the team will be focusing on over the next month and hash out priorities, as well as, who should be working on what.  
  • Lunch time!  You grab a couple teammates, and head down to Bellevue to grab food - or maybe you pick up lunch and then hang out with the team to play some video games while you take a breather.
  • After lunch you block out some time to start prototyping one of the services you are working on.   You've got the initial prototype working so you spin up some cloud resources to test out deployment.  
  • In the afternoon you meet with one of the studio engineering leads to chat about some improvements to one of the internal services/systems that are used across the studios.   Your brainstorming session results in some cool new features that will help the studios isolate engine issues faster and make them even more productive.

ProbablyMonsters is looking for a Help Desk Administrator to be responsible for administrative tasks and projects related to our infrastructure. The Help Desk Administrator will also respond to, and resolve incoming help desk requests from both our studios and internal teams.

  • You start your day by making a quick pass around the site to ensure all the AV gear is ready for the days awesome game demos and studio collaboration.
  • You then brew a killer cup of coffee with one of your teammates in the kitchen. This week's brew is a nice dark roast from Ethiopia.
  • While enjoying your coffee, you hear from someone that one of the rooms isn't connecting to WiFi. No problem! You log in to the WiFi management portal, start troubleshooting, find an authentication issue, and solve it with ease. You walk over to the room to verify connectivity.
  • Back at your desk, you check out the help desk board and do a quick prioritization of issues. You're passionate about the helpdesk running like a well-oiled machine.
  • Helpdesk is in order. You now have some free time to investigate that file system replication issue on one of the domain controllers.
  • Before you can get to the bottom of the issue, someone walks up to your desk. They are locked out of their workstation. You perform an account unlock and password reset, and they are on their way.
  • It's already lunchtime! You grab a couple of colleagues and head down out for a bite – or maybe you brought lunch, and you're going to hang out with the team and play some video games while you take a breather.
  • After lunch, your lead walks up – it's time to review the networking plan for connecting our new domain to AWS. The two of you grab a whiteboard and brainstorm about this. Now you can start on some of the deployment automation.
  • Another ticket comes in. One of the studios has a new hire starting next week — time to run through the on-boarding tasks and start building out a sweet new workstation. You swing by and talk briefly with the studio head. While you're there, one of the designers shows you some of the sweet stuff she has been working on.
  • The day's about done when one of the systems starts alerting. The monitoring dashboard shows this as a downed domain controller. You do a quick investigation; false alarm. Looks like a problem with the monitoring agent. You communicate the false alarm to the team. You were already planning some changes to that system which should avoid these in the future. You talk to your lead for a few minutes to make sure this is prioritized for tomorrow.
  • You head home knowing there are still some people working in the studios as they have a milestone that is due next week. You are on-call this week and are prepared to step in should anyone run into any issues.

  • You start your day by checking the status of overnight builds.
  • Investigating a slow build, you find the root causes and make a few configuration changes to Jenkins.
  • You start to spec out some additional hardware needed to scale the build farm to the next level, taking some time to dig into the latest SSD and GPU technologies.
  • You meet with the studio engineering leads to review and make long term development plans.
  • Before lunch, you start on some of that automation to optimize check-in gates.
